Increase volume

I just purchased this mic and am using it with my iPhone 4 with the adapter. Trying to shoot a video with iPhone. I inserted the battery according to diagram, but volume on mike is very low. I do have the switch to on. How do I increase the volume?

I've got the exact same problem - only with the new iPhone 5. Got the proper adapter, a completely fresh battery and have tried everything. Have even tested the mic woth my Macbook Pro tweeking and gaining the input levels as much as possible, but with useless results. Only by blowing across the mic or having it very very close to my mouth, it's possible to get any sound recorded.

Seems like a lot of customers with the same problem!
