Before I even start my review, I what to say I been buying Audio-Technica products for years. One of my first purchases was in the early seventies. I was heavy into Quadraphonic Music. One of my favorite formats was CD-4 the others were OS, and SQ. To play CD-4 albums you needed a special phono cartridge, and guess who was the first to make them? You guess it A/T. The Audio-Techinca At145a Quadraphonic Phone Cartridge which I still have today and is STILL working great! I paid $39 dollars back then. Beleive it or not you can still get this cartridge today at a whopping $368 dollars...Now on to the headphones they lastest five months untill the left ear pad fell out then the right a few weeks later. I tried to repair them myself but it was frugle. I put the phones away and got some Bose. As for the audio quality I give the A/T's a four star rating. Comfort(before the pads fell out) a five star rating. With the case and all the connecting ablities another five. Noise reduction a three star rating compare to the Bose. I used the A/T's on a couple flight's and they are from poor to good for noise reduction on a airplane. After calling A/T, I found out today about the free ear pad replacements and have order them. I will make another review when I receive them and fix the headphone problem. For the price that theses phones are availble on amazon.com and compare to the price I paid for my Bose, I give them a thumb's up for the A/T's At $100 on amazon.com. I love how Audio-Technica has always stand by it's products!!! PS: they did replaced my Shibata Stylus for free in 1979 for the quad cart...

How to cushion the headband?
We have owned these for nearly 1 year and we are going to buy 1 more pair of noise cancelling headphones but what keeps us from buying these again is the headband on these headphones. the plastic is hard and not comfortable at all. I was wondering if anyone has done anything to make the headband more comfortable that doesnt make the headphones look silly?
The ear pad and vinvl is a big problem with current Audio-Technica phones. I have A/T phones that retail at $299 and the pads and vinvl came off. A/T has replacement vinvl and form pad for many of their phones. They will send you the replacements for free.

Why are rechargeable batteries not recommended for use in the ATH-ANC1 Quietpoint headphones?
Will damage occur if NIMH batteries are used?
The ATH-ANC1 will continue to work well after the battery is almost completely drain. Do this do NIMH and they may leak.

How to eliminate high-pitched humming noise?
Hi, I just purchased a pair of QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling headphones (ATH-ANC7b). I am using them to reduce exposure to ambient noise in our very busy office, so I just have them turned on with no music playing. They cancel the noise very well, however, I am hearing a constant high-pitched humming noise from the left earpiece. There is occasional noise from the right earpiece, but not as constant (perhaps every 10 or 15 seconds). I am disappointed that noise-cancelling headphones introduce an annoying noise of their own - is this normal? Is there a way to eliminate this?
I know of no other problem like yours. But anything is possible. Any sound coming from the earpiece has to be created BEFORE reaching the driver. You may have a defective pair of phones in my opinion. Sounds like the Noise-Cancelling Circuitry. A/T is very fair when it comes to repairs. If these phones are less then a year they will give you a new pair.

Detachable stereo cable
Where can I find a replacement cable for my headphones? The diameter of the plug is smaller that most I've found in stores and it needs to slide into the headphone body.

Are there replacement ear pads sold for this item?
The ear pads recently tore open because they are just glued together at the seam, they aren't stitched. I was just wondering if I can purchase replacement pads rather than fixing them myself?
Call A/T and talk to the customer service department and they will connect you with the person incharge with the Ear Pad Replacement. Besure to tell them you had the phones for lesst than a year. They will ship you a pair to replace the damage ones at NO cost.

Are ATH-ANC7 compatible with iPod?
I have used them without ANY problem with my Classic iPod so I'm pretty sure you can use them with every iPod..
