Perfect for speech, theater, orchestra and choir sound reinforcement and recording, the U853R cardioid condenser hanging microphone is equipped with UniGuard® innovations that offer unsurpassed immunity from radio frequency interference. With a consistent cardioid polar pattern, the mic offers natural sound from any angle, and superior gain before feedback. It is phantom powered and features an integral 80 Hz low-cut UniSteep® filter that reduces pickup of low-frequency ambient noise. The microphone accepts interchangeable elements, available in cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional and UniLine® line cardioid polar patterns.
How far above the stage can this mic be and still be effective?
We want to mount a single mic in front of the stage about 18 feet or so diagonally up to the ceiling so it can capture the sound coming off the stage. But to the back of the stage it could be some 40 feet. Will that make this mic ineffective? I guess I'm asking what is the sound loss v. distance from source with this mic? Is another A/T mic better for that application? We want to use this mic for broadcasting over the Internet.
Crisp & intelligible pickup—far away or up close. In its "Tele" range setting, this cardioid condenser is engineered to pick up dialogue and sound effects at a distance, while bypassing ambient noise such as traffic, air-handling systems, room reverberation and mechanically coupled vibrations. Designed especially for use with video cameras.
